Liquor stores cannot be within 300 metres of other liquor shops, nor within 150 metres of a school. Licensees may only sell and serve spirit drinks at the times indicated on the licence. The Registrar may limit the above normal hours as a condition of approval. All signs of alcohol must be removed 45 minutes after the end of the period during which the alcohol may be sold or served under the licence. Businesses primarily engaged in producing spirits require a licence for the producer of alcoholic beverages (e.g., breweries, distilleries and wineries) A business that produces alcohol requires a municipal licence in addition to a licence from the Alberta Gaming & Liquor Commission (AGLC). In Greece, all bars, cafeterias, clubs and others remain open as long as guests are inside. Usually, cafeterias stay open until 11 p.m., bars until 2 a.m., and clubs until the early hours of the morning, but there is no last call. In 1994, Stelios Papathemelis, the Minister of Public Order, passed a law requiring all bars to close at 2 a.m. The law was largely unpopular, was never fully implemented, and was abolished a few years later.

and 2 a.m. in some cities. Alcohol is sold 24 hours a day through retailers. Following the implementation of the separation spacing requirement, concerns have been expressed about the restriction of competition between spirits traders in large suburbs designed for large populations. If a spirits supplier hires a registered body to represent its products, the supplier must complete a letter of authorization designating the contracted liquor agency for its respective product brands. At the same time, the designated spirits agency must complete a letter of intent confirming the agreement with the supplier. Businesses whose main activity is the sale and consumption of spirits in the same premises require a licence for the sale of alcoholic beverages. These companies do not need an additional license to sell alcohol produced on the same premises. The intent of this business is the sale and consumption of alcoholic beverages on the same premises and may include the retail sale of locally produced alcohol (e.g. restaurants, bars, breweries, licensed drinking places).

Recent call times are often required by law and vary widely globally and locally. The objectives of the legislation include the reduction of night noise in the neighborhood, traffic accidents, violence and alcohol-related health problems.  In a bar, a final call (last orders) is an announcement made just before the bar closes for the night, informing customers of their last chance to buy alcoholic beverages. This is a sharp decline in recent years, as the government believes that reducing drinking times means fewer fights, noise, disruptions, etc. There are no final explicit calls in Sweden, as it would violate a political principle not to encourage people to drink more. The last authorized closing time of bars and restaurants is set by the municipality, but regulated by national laws and regulations. The last default hour is 1 a.m. But in many cities, later time may be allowed under certain conditions, such as high-security forces and personnel trained in responsible alcohol distribution. In some of the larger cities, there is an hour of closure until 5 a.m.  During the 2020-2021 coronavirus pandemic, the Alcohol Act was used to limit the number of visitors to bars and restaurants (only for those serving alcohol) by setting the closing time at 8 p.m. Alberta has a privatized liquor retail system where our 2,250 retailers – including specialty stores, large chains, small independent stores and hotels and manufacturers do not sell – sell more than 29,000 alcohol products from Alberta, Canada and around the world to consumers in the province. Italy does not have a legally prescribed closing time. Alcohol can be served or sold anywhere 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. In Rome, a decree was issued in January 2009 that provides for 2 a.m. the last call to Campo de` Fiori and the neighborhoods of Trastevere and Testaccio.
 The new final call for these areas was initiated to stem the nighttime turmoil in these working-class neighborhoods of Rome.
